Another UTI

Thursday July 9, Dad was especially confused. He kept asking the same questions every 5 minutes or so. It was ridiculous and I was getting frustrated. He had physical therapy and I had to tell him what time it was at least 10 times. Then he got confused because he thought it was at a different time, and I had to tell him the time he was thinking was for another appointment on Friday with the podiatrist. We went round and round and round for at least an hour.

Friday, he couldn't walk down the hall without touching the wall. He would tip to the left, touch the wall, then tip to the right, touch the wall. All the way down from one end to the other. He was just as confused, he was especially slow and falling asleep more than normal. Jason had to help him off the couch and when Jaron came to take him to the previously mentioned podiatry appointment, he said Dad smelled like pee and seemed really "off".

Friday night around 7pm, Dawnie brought Dad home and said "something is really wrong. He wouldn't even go into the grocery store with me." She said he had a fever, but she ALWAYS thinks that so I ignored her. But I still knew something had been especially off with him for a couple days. I took him to urgent care, and they suggested we go to an ER.

8 hours later, he was taken from the ER to a hospital (this ER was a stand-alone emergency-only facility, no rooms) He stayed there until Monday afternoon. He had a serious UTI that had gone septic. He was severely dehydrated. Once they put an IV antibiotic in him, he improved drastically. It still took some time for him to seem more normal (hence the 2 1/2 days in the hospital).

As soon as he got in my car to leave the hospital, he called Dawnie. I told him he could not go there today and needed his rest. So he called and told her he needed to stay home today, and would see her tomorrow. She acted like it was her idea, for him to rest. She said she knows how important it is to rest after a hospital stay....... This made me so mad... the woman demanded he get on the bus to come see her the day after he had a grand-mal seizure and broke open his forehead. She refused to pick him up but demanded he see her at her house. She makes him do things he shouldn't all the time because it fits her narrative. She doesn't give two shits about his well-being.

Anyway, he is home and taking it easy. I hope he doesn't get another UTI, this is the 3rd one in less than a year.
